FIVE STEPS TO SEDUCTION

We fluttered our eyelashes, flicked our hair and flashed our cheekiest smiles until the Five fellas agreed to take a break from recording to reveal how they charm the girlies...

You spot a gorgeous girl across a crowded room. What do you do to attract her attention?

SEAN: I do what anyone does, make a bit of eye contact, court her a bit.
SCOTT: Ummm, I don't know. I first met my girlfriend Kerry because I was mates with her brother. I used to flirt with her a lot, but it was ages before anything happened. In the end, I just told her how much I liked her and we got together.
ABS: I'd just stare at her for ages. Well, long enough for her to know that I liked her.
RITCHIE: I'd give her a cheeky grin, then wait for her response. I wouldn't go over straightaway, I'd leave it for half an hour to make sure she's interested.
J: I've never used chat-up lines in my life. I don't know any female would fall for them. All that: "Here's 10p. Call your mum to tell her you won't be coming home tonight" stuff isn't for me.

You strike it lucky and she gives you her number. How long before you give her a call, and if you get her voicemail, do you leave her a message?

SEAN: It depends. If you tell her you'll ring the next day and you don't, it makes you look untrustworthy. I wouldn't leave a message, and I'd do 141 first, so she didn't know I'd called. [in the UK, 141 erases call tracing]
SCOTT: Well, when I first got into the band. I used to all Kerry all the time. I wanted to talk to her...
ABS: I wouldn't call her straightaway, like the next day or anything. If I got her voicemail, I wouldn't leave a message, I'd just hang up.
J: It's reasonable to wait a day or two, but the last thing I'd want to do is treat a girl badly. If I said I'd call her, then I would. If I got her voicemail, I'd leave a short message and all back later.
RITCHIE: At least two days. Sometimes you want to call on the first day, but you stop yourself. If I haven't called after 5 or 6 days, I'm not keen. If I got voicemail, I'd leave a message then call her back.

You invite her over to your place for a seductive candlelit dinner. What do you cook?

SEAN: Spaghetti on toast - that's romantic. Nah, I'd cook chili.
SCOTT: I'd do this mince thing - like a stew with potatoes and stuff. I'm an all right cook.
ABS: I'd ask her what she wants and then run to M&S [Marks & Spencers] to get all the ingredients. If it went pear-shaped, I'd get a McDonald's.
RITCHIE: I'm quite good with a wok, so I'd cook Chinese.
J: When I was seeing Mel (C), we always went out to eat - because we never had the time to get the shopping or to cook.

You've got just L20 (about 30 bucks) to spend on a date. Where do you go?

SEAN: I'd take her to the cinema. I'd ask her what she wants to see, but I'd prefer not to see a lovey-dovey film.
SCOTT: First, I'd buy her flowers. Then we'd go and see a film, something girlie like 'Notting Hill'. After that, I'd make us some food, light some candles and snuggle up and watch TV.
ABS: I'd never go out with just L20! I'd spend it on a little gift and get a couple of bottles of wine and have a night in.
RITCHIE: Money doesn't matter if the company is right. You could go for a walk in the park, that costs nothing.
J: It's not important where we go as long as we can talk.

It's her birthday and you've got L50 (about 75 bucks) to spend on her present. What do you buy?

SEAN: I'd get tickets to a concert, then afterwards we could go for a cheap 'n cheerful meal somewhere.
SCOTT: I'd get her something nice to wear and a CD.
ABS: You can buy stars for about L50. I'd get one. [...you can register a star in the sky under someone's name]
RITCHIE: I'd get her something sentimental.
J: I'd find out what film she wanted to see, then I'd do everything I could to make the evening really special.
